Digital Seminar - An Improved Single Market for Services

An improved Single Market for services – a kick-start of the economic recovery of the EU?

Digital seminar - 30 September 14-15.30 hrs

The seminar is arranged in collaboration with the Confederation of Danish Industry, Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and Confederation of Finnish Industries.

The lockdown and the enduring threat of new outbreaks of Covid-19 have caused, and are still causing, huge losses and insecurity for business. However, the services industry, being highly diversified and customer oriented, has also experienced a demand for new services.

During the lockdown, Morten Løkkegaard, Member of the European Parliament (Renew), presented the first draft of his own initiative report on Strengthening the Single Market: the future of free movement of services, pointing out the importance of a well-functioning Single Market for services. We are honored to have Morten Løkkegaard as our host for the seminar and learn more about the progress of the report.

At the seminar we will listen to the experiences of Magnus Nylén, who is the founder of the Swedish company Min Doktor/Docly, a privately-owned digital health provider. Min Doktor/Docly has had high ambitions on scaling their business on the EU market, and we will learn more about the opportunities and challenges for European service providers. Is the Single Market a good market for start-ups to scale up, and what needs to be changed to improve the Single Market for innovative services?

The responsibility for the economic recovery as well as the success of the Single Market is shared by EU institutions and EU Member States alike. Our panelists are representatives from the institutions involved in EU policy making. How can they make a difference for European service providers?

  • Arba Kokalari, Member of the European Parliament (EPP).
  • Antti Neimala, Director General of Employment and Well-Functioning Markets Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland
  • Hubert Gambs, Deputy Director-General DG Grow, European Commission

Our seminar will be moderated by Jennifer Baker, a Brussels based journalist and well-known commentator, under the hashtag #brusselsgeek, on everything in the Brussels Bubble.
