ECHO nr. 58: Market Access Day 2024 wo. 18 september - programma en aanmelden
Op 18 september 2024 organiseren VNO-NCW en MKB-Nederland, het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken en de Europese Commissie (DG Trade) samen de ‘Market Access Day’ 2024 in de Malietoren.
Tijdens de Market Access Day gaan we in verschillende sessies met elkaar in gesprek over het Europese handelsbeleid. We staan tijdens verschillende break-out-sessies stil bij het belang van vrijhandelsverdragen, de geopolitieke spanningen tussen de VS-EU-China en knelpunten die bedrijven onder andere ervaren met betrekking tot exportbelemmeringen richting derde landen. Daarnaast biedt de lunch voldoende ruimte om te netwerken en in contact te treden met de Europese delegatie van DG Trade en de ambtenaren van het ministerie die daarnaast tijdens de plenaire sessie zullen stilstaan bij de Europese beleidsagenda en ontwikkelingen.
Inloop vanaf 8:30 uur en met gratis lunch voor de deelnemers tot 14:00 uur.
Aanmelden kan via deze link tot en met woensdag 10 september. U kunt daarin ook uw voorkeuren opgeven voor de 2 deelsessies. We hanteren vanwege de beperkte ruimte in de Malietoren het principe: wie het eerst komt, het eerst maalt. Voertaal tijdens de bijeenkomst is Engels.

08:30 – 09:00 Walk-in and coffee
09:00 – 09:15 Word of welcome
After a brief introduction, Focco Vijselaar (Director-General of VNO-NCW) and Reinette Klever (Minister for Foreign Trade and Development) will provide opening remarks.
09:15 – 10:00 Keynote speech and Q&A
Denis Redonnet (Chief Trade Enforcement Officer of the European Commission) will discuss the implementation and enforcement of EU trade policy, as well as its potential for Dutch companies. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.
10:00 – 10:45 Presentation of EU toolbox
Mikolaj Olszewski (European Commission) will present EU instruments for the use and enforcement of trade agreements, and explain how Dutch companies can benefit from them. These tools include Access2Markets, the Single Entry Point for trade barriers, and the Rules of Origin self-assessment tool.
10:45 – 11:15 Coffee break
11:15 – 11:55 Breakout sessions: round 1
During the first round of breakout sessions, subject matter experts will deliver presentations on the following topics:
- The nexus between geopolitics and economics, with emphasis on the trade relations between the European Union, United States and China, particularly examining how domestic subsidy policies in these regions impact and shape these global trade dynamics.
- The benefits of EU trade agreements, with a focus on recent agreements such as the trade deal with New Zealand, as well as ongoing negotiations with Southeast Asian countries.
- Developments at the intersection between Trade and Sustainable Development (TSD), including the European Commission’s TSD Review, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).
- Trade barriers in export markets, and ways in which the Dutch government and European Commission can help companies surmount such barriers. Additionally, during this session Dutch companies will share their experiences with trade barriers and ways to overcome them.
12:00 – 12:40 Breakout sessions: round 2
During the second round of breakout sessions, each of the abovementioned presentations will be repeated to facilitate participants’ attendance of multiple sessions.
12:40 – 13:00 Closing remarks
The subject matter experts in charge of the breakout sessions will briefly report on the main take-aways from their presentations, followed by concluding remarks from the master of ceremonies.
13:00 – 14:00 Networking lunch
During the networking lunch, participants will have the opportunity to connect with their peers and to engage with experts from the European Commission and Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
